Profile

I started out as an Intern during college at Bailey Brand Consulting, where I became interested in the field of Packaging Design. Assisting everyone (Graphic Designers, Graphic Artists, Production Specialists, Proofreaders) with their grunt work actually helped me develop into a better designer, understand the design process from start to finish, and become very meticulous on checking artwork before production. As a Junior Packaging Designer, I also developed a passion for Branding and Typography.

I brought my knowledge and passion into Atico International USA, Inc., where I worked in their in-house Art Department for the next 13 years. During my down time as a Packaging Designer, I took on Product Development projects and enjoyed creating graphical illustrations. Due to my design skills and detail-oriented nature, I was given the responsibility of handling the Corporate Express account and creating all their layouts; at the same time, I was promoted as an Assistant Art Director, where I Iearned to manage my own Designer and co-manage the Art Dept staff. When opportunity came, I took on the role of Art Director. Though I’ve been managing for 10 years, my main passion is still doing graphic design.

After the Atico layoff, I became a stay-at-home mom to my then 4-year-old son and also my newborn daughter 4 months later. Though I’m thankful for being there for my daughter’s first year, it is now time for her to go to preschool and for me to get back on track from this year-and-a-half job hiatus, as I miss designing terribly. My ideal goal is to work with a successful, diverse, fun-loving company that I’m proud of, where I am able to design and not just manage or art direct, learn from a mentor or mentors in the other design areas that I haven’t explored, and still be an awesome mother to my 2 kids that anyone with a full time job can be.
